Well we all know Barbie has turned 50 this year and I'm sure at the age of 50 we would all love to look like her!!

I've looked at Barbie's past wedding dresses (did her and Ken really get married every year?!) it's amazing how much detail the designers paid to the gowns and later on even the backdrops! Enjoy the photos.

Invitations 101

With all of your planning ahead of you this year, make sure to leave enough time for your invitations. I custom create all of my invitations with your wedding in mind.

Using beautiful paper and being able to choose from a graphics gallery of over 800 images gives us a great starting point to make your wedding stationery unique and glamorous.

The process typically starts with an initial consultation that helps us learn more about you and your plans – I’ll ask you about your wedding colours, venue, décor, etc. to get a feel for your style and what might suit your needs best. We’ll also discuss your specific invitation and paper needs ie. how many Invitations, RSVP cards or postcards, Thank You cards etc. including your budget. Based on your feedback, I will e-mail you with 2-4 design ideas with specific estimates for each idea in a PDF format.

The entire process, from the initial consultation to delivery of your invitations, usually takes about 8 weeks, but can be sped up or slowed down depending on your individual needs.

Below is a photo of an invitation I designed for Stephen and Pamela in 2008. We always try to remind the brides and grooms to take photos of your invitations on your wedding day. Give one to your Maid of Honour before the wedding day to give to your Photographer, this photo is a great way to start off your photo album.

The wedding movie season...

Well along with everyone planning their weddings, this is the time we start to see all of the wedding themed movies.

In May of 2008 it was Made of Honor with Patrick Dempsey. I haven't seen this movie, I'm more of the Wedding Crashers type of movie gal, Jen saw it and her review was it was a good movie.
Jen's cake rating is: 4 Wedding Cakes out of 5.

2009 started us off with an early wedding movie release Bride Wars, starring Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway on January 9th. It's a movie about two best friends become rivals when they schedule their respective weddings on the same day. Again I didn't waste my popcorn on this movie... But Jen our ever-going movie reviewer went and said, "it had some funny moments, and some nice moments, but the ending was awful. And it was all very predictable. It was one of those movies that everything you saw on the commercials were the best parts of the movie." Jen's cake rating is: 2 Wedding Cakes out of 5.

There are two others I can find so far that are coming out this year. The first one, The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, scheduled release date is May 1st. It isn't a wedding driven movie but from the preview there are a few weddings in the movie! Starring Jennifer Garner and Matthew McConaughey, it takes on A Christmas Carol kind of story telling.

I'm crossing my fingers that it's not as cliche as the preview looks. Girl liked boy, girl hates boy, girl takes back boy... Well, I may not see it in the theatres but I will rent it. It looks like it will have some funny moments! I'll give it an advanced cake rating of 3 Wedding Cakes out of 5.

The one I am looking forward to is The Proposal, starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds, scheduled release date is June 12th.

This movie will get me to the theatre. 1. These two look like comedy gold, and Ryan is not only a yummy guy to watch when you're not getting married, but he's so funny, if you haven't seen Just Friends rent it! 2. Betty White is in the movie, enough said. 3. Sandra Bullock is playing a Canadian who wants to stay working in America, Ryan Renolds in real life is a Canadian working in America. I'm going to go out on a limb and give a pre-cake review of 4.5 cakes out of 5. I'll revisit this after I see the movie in June!

Well it was a winter wonderland the day of Sian and Brad's wedding in Langley. The best thing was that both the ceremony and reception were held at the Fort Langley Golf Course, so even though the snow was falling outside everyone was warm and cozy inside.

This was a beautiful wedding to start our year off, the love was in the air and Sian and Brad were pure joy to photograph. We hope they were able to escape the next day to Mexico and get a tan for all of us here! We want to wish you and your family many, many years of happiness.

Where did you get your wedding outfit? I bought my dress from Bryan’s two years ago, not for any particular occasion, just because I really liked it; this is very unlike me...I rarely wear dresses. I got my shoes of the clearance rack at the Shoe Warehouse ($12, I think) for my trip to Mexico about a year and a half ago.

What is your favourite accessory? My glasses.

What is your day to day look? Jeans, t-shirt, runners...comfortable...mom-slash-student (older student).

Where are your favourite places to shop? Superstore and The Gap (great fitting jeans).

What was your last random purchase? An American Eagle bag, big enough for books, from Payless Shoes (BOGO with my kindergartener’s ‘inside’ shoes).

Why did we pick Dustine and why is Jen in the photos with her? Well we all go way back ... back to grade three and Jen and I have always thought Dusty has had the trendy fashion sense. We lived through the 80's of acid wash jeans, tucking them into your socks, big hair, and we lived to tell about it! Now we met up with her at a wedding and she looked amazing with two beautiful girls and a great husband who was in the wedding party! What a small world. So to us you'll always be our Glamour Girl on Midvale Street Dusty!!

Well with all of our sunny weather as luck would have it the skies opened up on the day of Jasmine and Derek's wedding. Thankfully the outdoor wedding was moved inside to the Roundhouse and it was a beautiful ceremony with their close friends and family. When we left for photos, the skies dried up and we were able to do a tour around Yaletown laughing and chasing down some of Vancouver's finest for a quick few photos!

Heather and Sean live in Alberta but her family live here in Vancouver, so with emails and phone calls to her family a BC wedding was planned!

Heather looked amazing in her wedding dress truly fit for a princess. The ceremony took place at Minoru Chapel and then we found our way to the Secret Garden in Tsawwassen and across the street to Boundary Bay to relax in the sand for a few minutes.

We had such a great time with everyone at the wedding, thanks so much for everything and we'll look you up next time we're in Alberta!

We had such a great time with Lori, Scott and their wedding guests! The wedding took place at The Falls golf resort in Chilliwack and it was beautiful. Lisa Gregory Special Events, again worked their decorating magic and created a beautiful tent to eat and dance under. Jen and I guessed that 40% of the guests were under the age of 10 and that brought an air of wonderment and enchantment to the cool breeze, the girls had their dancing shoes on and the boys were having fun rolling down the grassy hill. Plus they were so much fun to take photos of while the "grown-ups" were eating! Over all it was a beautiful day filled with love and laughter. Congratulations, Lori and Scott and have a wonderful trip down the Oregon coast!

Travel Tuesday/Globe-Trotting Wednesday!

I have to apologize to Jen, Travel Tuesday is going up so late today, it's turning into globe-trotting Wednesday! (I'm hoping to get it posted before midnight!) So here we go....

Located on the northern coast of Africa, Tunisia has boundaries with Algeria to the west, Libya to the southeast and the Mediterranean Sea to the north and east.

The Atlas Mountains divide the country into two regions, the well-watered north and the semi-arid south. The northern region, which contains the Kroumirie Forest, Bizerte, and the Medjerda River Valley, is further divided into three sub-regions: the northwest, with extensive cork forests; the north central, with its fertile grasslands, and the northeast from Tunis to Cap Bon, noted for its livestock, citrus fruits and garden produce.

The southern regions contains a central plateau and a desert area in the extreme south, which merges into the Sahara and is characterised by the date palm oases and saline lakes. The Medjerda Mountains, which run from Kroumirie to Bizerte, and the Tébessa Mountains (or Massif Meridional), in the southern region, are the two most important mountain ranges. The Medjerda, the most important river system, rises in Algeria and drains into the Gulf of Tunis.

I travelled to Tunisia when I lived in England and found that it's beautiful beaches and historical treasures attract millions of tourists from all over the world. It is a very popular destination for people who live in the UK. Nearly 5 million tourists visited Tunisia in 1999 and in 2004 they reached more than 6 million.

I stayed in the capital city, Tunis, which is a two-hour flight from Paris and London and a fifty-minute flight from Rome. Daily flights connect Tunisia to virtually all European, African and Middle Eastern destinations.

Travelling around I felt very safe and the people were very friendly. The official language is Arabic and French. When walking down the streets shopping, people try to get you to go to their store by mumbling stuff to you so you keep asking questions of what it is...and then they say" come on and I'll show you..." lol be wise to their tactics!

The temperature is quite humid, but when you are lying on the one of golden beaches and looking at deep blue sea in the morning, it's not out of place to look down the beach and see a camel in the distance. That's something you wouldn't see on Kits beach!

Tunisia is not a budget buster, especially for Western visitors. It's usually possible to get a clean room for about US$5 per person, and main dishes in local restaurants are often in the US$4 range. If you're fighting to keep costs down, you can get by on around US$15 a day, but you'll have more fun with a budget of about US$25 and can live like royalty for upwards of US$40. Credit cards are accepted in souvenir shops and upmarket hotels and restaurants. Tipping is not a requirement, but most local café and restaurant patrons toss a few coins on the table as they leave, and waiters in tourist restaurants are accustomed to tips of around 10%. Handicrafts are about the only items you'll be able to haggle over in Tunisia.

There are a few small movies you may know that have been filmed in Tunisia... You may know of a little one named Star Wars, The Isle of Djerba is popular because of it’s seclusion from the mainland, it’s quiet and calm atmosphere, and the fact that one of the Star Wars set is on the island. Definitely a favorite for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of busy life and enjoy peace, quiet, great beaches, and nature. Due to it's extraordinary form, Matmata was the location for disco scene in the first Star Wars film. Also all the houses are all underground! Before you leave for Tunisia, try to see the film first, then you go on to experience Matmata. Oang Jamel- it is out in the middle of the desert, but it is here that one of the most famous Star Wars sets still stands. You can only reach this area with a 4×4 because of the washboard road, but more importantly because the winds blow the Sahara sands onto the roads and will get anything less stuck.

One of my favourite movies, Gladiator, was filmed in El Jem- is the biggest and most in tact Roman coliseum in the world. World Heritage-listed and quite possibly the single most impressive Roman monument in Africa, the colosseum at El-Jem was also the third-largest of its kind in the Roman world. At its best at sunset, the colosseum is towering and sturdy but with sufficient sections in ruins to evoke the ghosts of the long-distant past. In summer, the arena where gladiators once fought for their lives is given over to concerts - we challenge you to find a finer venue.

Parts of The English Patient was filmed in Toezeur, you reach through the Sahara desert. It is famous for the yellow bricks, and the palm tree forest in the middle of the desert.

I also took a bus tour to the Sahara and a camel ride. The camel wranglers expect to be given some money to take their photos. As I was on the sunset camel ride in the Sahara.....of course for the tourists, the Arabian's came out on their Egyptian horses, or some type of horse and dressed to the nines, looking for some moola from all us wide eyed tourists. We were told by our guide before we went out on the camels that this would happen and they would expect to be paid. They come at the perfect time when we take a break from our camels and get to walk around the desert.

One comes to me, of course the young blonde hair blue eyed girl, with lily white Vancouver skin! We were talking with him and I had wanted to get my photo on the horse, as it was so beautifully decorated....so the guy jumps off and picks me up and throws me on the horse! As I was opening my eyes again wondering how the hell I got up there so fast, got my photo snapped and as soon as I heard the shutter release....the Arabian was on the horse behind me and off we took off like a BULLET!!...OK, i was not prepared for this at all, I grabbed on to the hair of the horse to steady my balance and clenched my thighs so hard i would have broken a Suzanne Summers Thigh Master, the Arabian man made sure I didn't fall off as he grabbed me around the waist!

side bar: as we went off like a bullet everyone in our tour group whiplashed their heads to the crazy blonde girl screaming her head off on the horse with the man with a sword!! LOL!! We went for a fast gallup in the desert and he dropped me back off at my camel my headscarf slightly ascue from the bullet ride! I peeled myself off the horse and wobbled back with thighs of steel to my to my camel....everyone giggling, as well as myself, at what just happend....and I took a bow and gave him some money.

I must say that is one of the most memorable moments of my life!!! Every time I re-live it with my sister we laugh so hard we cry.

Tunisia's list of attractions would do justice to a country twice its size. From the Roman-era hot springs at Hamman Mellegue to the space-age sets of Star Wars, Gladiators in the coliseum, crazy Arabian horse rides and amazing sunsets. It's a country that is rich in history, offers so many different kinds of scenery it's a photographers paradise and with over 1200 kilometers of coast this sunny Mediterranean land is heaven for the vacationer. Wanda + Eddie Part 2

We met this smart little girl who asked Wanda if she was "getting married today." Wanda said, "yes." Then the little girl thought for a few seconds and said, "then why are you wearing flippy flops and not heels?" We all had to laugh at that and Wanda explained that sometimes girls have to be comfortable! The little girls mom told me that she had been watching Wanda since she walked onto the beach because she thought Wanda was a princess and she was so excited about seeing a princess on the beach! She would never forget this day at the beach!!

Travel Tuesday

Welcome to our second week of Travel Tuesday! We have been smokin' busy this last week so Jen is preparing a great article on Tunisia, Africa. Her photos are amazing so it will be a fantastic read.

This week we're going to talk to everyone who has, wants to or is thinking of cruising. As you know Jen and I both have spent many days at sea... Between the both of us about 2,555 with a few vacation days here and there! I know most people think it's all glam working on a cruise ship eating the food and living the high life but remember we are working 24-7, and as photographers we took photos of all the passengers, developed their photos and the crew's, and best of all we had to dress up in costumes at least once during each cruise. Alaska=Polar Bear, Brown Bear and Moose, Caribbean=Pirates, Asia=Dragon & Geisha, Australia, New Zealand=Kangaroo, well you get the idea!

We want to give some advice to future cruisers, the photogs are not out to get you! We just need to get a quick photo of you and we'll be on our way. It's so easy to smile quickly and run away from us. You don't have to buy the photos, but you'd be surprised they turn out pretty good! The embarkation photo can start off your photo album because it has your cruise date and port, the gangway photos are the ones everyone seem to hate the most. Trust us we would much rather be sleeping then standing out in the blazing sun for four hours in Aruba or in the sub zero temperatures in Siberia! But they are also great markers for your photo albums. Of course there are the fun ones we always take, and as we always say to our friends who are going on a cruise for the first time, it's quicker to smile for the photo then explain why you don't want your photo taken! Enjoy yourselves and have fun with us it will show in the photos and you will have some amazing ones to show your friends and family when you get home.

We have heard so many questions over our years some we thought were urban myths until we heard them with our own ears... If you have been on a cruise before and have asked one of the questions well, you now know you asked one of the "famous" questions. If you're planning on going on a cruise, make note of the questions and see if you can hear anyone asking a crew member one of them and watch the crew's reaction... I promise it will be priceless!

How do I find my photo? (remember what you look like!!)
Do you develop our photos on board?
When do we see the whale show? (heard anytime we're at sea in Alaska)
Do these stairs go up or down?
How do I work the microwave in my stateroom? (umm it's a safe!)
Do the crew sleep on board?

Brand new wedding fragrance...

To all of you brides and grooms out there, one of the things you may want to consider in your planning is a wedding scent. The scent should be calm and joyful and whenever you smell it, you will remember your wedding.

If you want to try something new, be sure to start experimenting the perfume at least a month before the wedding so that you are certain it is a scent you'll both enjoy. To make the most of your shopping trip, decide in advance what kind of fragrance you like (floral, fruity, woodsy or oriental). Ask for samples in that category only, and limit your sampling to four or five scents per visit. An excellent type of fragrance for a wedding is something light and airy. Remember, you do not want the fragrance to be competing with anything, just complementing your gown, hair, jewelry, and so on.

The one problem that most brides will agree to is that while the fragrance is perfect at the beginning of the ceremony, by the time the reception begins, the fragrance has faded. The best option is to use perfume, which has more of a fragrance oil, and then apply it to a small cotton square that can be tucked into your bra. This will keep the fragrance next to the skin and warm, keeping the scent fresh. Perfume or Cologne?

Fragrance is all about concentration -- not yours, the fragrance's. More concentrated formulas should be applied lightly to pulse points. Lighter blends can be applied all over without offending your reception line.

Perfume -- Very concentrated; use sparingly.
Eau de Parfum -- Very concentrated, but weaker than perfume; pulse points only.
Cologne -- Half as strong as perfume; pulse points or lightly spray.
Eau de Toilette -- Generally weaker than cologne; spray.
Body washes, splashes and mists -- Very weak; spray all over for a light scent.

A word about essential oils. While these wonderful scents are great for room fresheners and sachets, generally they must be heavily diluted before they are worn directly on the skin. Some are so potent they can cause a rash. If you love a particular essential oil, you're better off finding a skin fragrance that incorporates its scent.

Sweet Smelling Safety Tips

Try on your fragrance ahead of time to make sure you're not allergic.

Don't have your flowers and perfume compete. If you have an abundance of aromatic buds (stargazer lilies, gardenias, roses or jasmine), opt for a subtler, floral fragrance. Your man will still pick up the scent when you are alone together at the end of the aisle.

On The Big Day

Keep it light! The higher your body temperature, the more potent the scent.
Stick to body mists and lotions. They have lower perfume concentrations.
Spray on your fragrance before you step into your dress.
Apply heavier perfumes sparingly to your pulse points.
Reapply fragrance to pulse points throughout the day but be sure to keep fragrance away from your dress!
Steer clear of sprays that may stain fabric.

Now I do have a suggestion for all of the Mr and Mrs's to be in the Langley area... It may not be the most romantic scent but trust me it's one that will save you on your wedding day! Enjoy the photo!!

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Welcome to our first TRAVEL TUESDAY! Today we'll travel to San Juan, Puerto Rico. This was my very first port of call on Princess Cruises. I joined the ship here in 1998 and didn't really know what to expect from this West Indies Island. It soon became my favourite place to explore. I have the photos and souvenirs to prove it! One of my stores t buy gifts for family and friends was Spicy Caribbee. I was so happy to find it online now, I haven't ordered from the site but ALL of their products are amazing:

San Juan is known as "La Ciudad Amurallada" (the walled city). San Juan was founded in 1521. In 1508 Juan Ponce de León founded the original settlement, Caparra, now known as Pueblo Viejo, behind the almost land-locked harbor just to the west of the present metropolitan area. If you're taking a cruise and you port in San Juan, you'll be able to walk everywhere in Old San Juan.

San Juan is a major port and tourist resort of the West Indies and is the oldest city under the U.S flag. The metropolitan area known as San Juan has 3 distinct areas: Old San Juan, the Beach & Resort area, and other outlying communities, the most important: Río Piedras, Hato Rey, Puerta de Tierra, and Santurce. San Juan is the largest home-based cruise port in the world. Twenty-eight vessels use San Juan as their home port, and each year new cruise ships either originate or call at the port.

If you like to take photos or just wander in and out of small shops this is the place for you. The streets are paved with cobbles of adoquine, a blue stone cast from furnace slag. With 400 carefully restored 16th and 17th century Spanish colonial buildings, the buildings are a beautiful explosion of colour that wouldn't work in Vancouver, but in Old San Juan as the sun sets and deepens the colour on the walls of the buildings, it's unbelievable. This neighbourhood is approximately 465 years old and was originally conceived as a military stronghold. It's 7-square-block area has evolved into a charming residential and commercial district.

Rich in history and culture, I would walk to El Morro Fortress, any chance I got. The word itself sounds powerful and this six-level fortress certainly is. Rising 140 feet above the sea, its 18-foot-thick wall proved a formidable defense. It fell only once, in 1598, to a land assault by the Earl of Cumberland's forces. The fort is a maze of tunnels, dungeons, barracks, outposts and ramps. El Morro is studded with small, circular sentry boxes called "garitas" that have become a national symbol. The views of San Juan Bay from El Morro are spectacular. The area was designated a National Historic Site in February, 1949 with 74 total acres. It has the distinction of being the largest fortification in the Caribbean. In 1992, the fortress was restored to its historical form in honor of the 500th anniversary of the discovery of Puerto Rico by Christopher Columbus. I found this fortress to be much more interesting as a photographer. You could sit on a bench and watch the sun and shadows move through out the day. Every new shadow created a brand new photograph.

Castillo de San Cristóbal (San Cristóbal Fort), it's the smaller fort to El Morro, a strategic masterpiece, it features five independent units, each connected by moat and tunnel; each fully self-sufficient should the others fall. It's a World Heritage and National Historic Site, administered by the U.S. National Park Service. Built in 1634 (completed in 1771), was considered the Gibraltar of the West Indies. San Cristóbal was supported by a massive system of outworks which provided defense in depth and is is one of the largest defenses ever built in the Americas. It rose 150 feet, covering 27 acres of land. As if its size and height weren't sufficient to intimidate enemies, its intricate modular design was sure to foil them. Open daily from 9am to 6pm. San Cristóbal was featured in the movie Amistad (1997). On the weekend you can go to this fort and buy some ice cream and sit on the grass watching the families picnic and fly kites. (It's the best place to fly a kite!) I guess this would be like our sea wall or Stanley Park in an urban setting.

I used to be so afraid of cemeteries that I had to close my eyes every time we drove past one. When I saw Cementerio De San Juan I couldn't not go in to pay respect and photograph the beautiful tombstones and the circular chapel dedicated to Mary Magdalen. To see the history in this cemetery and the dates on the tombstones this cemetery means so much to the people of San Juan, to share in the history meant so much to me. The most notable place which you can see from looking above the grounds is a circular, red-domed chapel, which dates back to the late 19th century. The cemetery is located between El Morro and the rocky cliffs above the Atlantic and is considered one of the most picturesque of burial grounds anywhere in the world. When I travelled back in 2000 it was kind of hit and miss with the gates being open so if you can't get in at least you can see the grounds from the pathway from El Morro.

Away from Old San Juan I travelled to Piñones Reserve, a sub-tropical moist forest. We spent a day here the walking/hiking is easy (I was in a dress and flip flops not hiking appropriate!) We did get a little lost, but in the end we did find our car again! I don't know if I would go back I think I was so nervous about seeing spiders or snakes I couldn't enjoy myself but there are many tropical forests in Puerto Rico.

Finally, a few of us took a day trip to Arecibo, where the Arecibo Observatory is located. The observatory is one of the world's most powerful radar radio telescopes, and the largest single-unit radio telescopes in the world. It collects radio astronomy, terrestrial aeronomy, and planetary radar data for scientists around the world. The telescope was featured in the movies GoldenEye (1995) and Contact (1997). To me it looked like a giant Jiffy Pop Popcorn maker! Cool to see but it's a long drive from Old San Juan and there isn't to much to see once you're there.

There are also a lot of famous people that were born in Puerto Rico some are: Benicio del Toro, Erik Estrada, Frankie Muniz, Freddie Prinze, Jr., Jennifer Lopez, Jimmy Smits, Joaquin Phoenix, John Leguizamo, Michelle Rodriguez, Ricky Martin, Roselyn Sanchez and Rosie Perez.

I loved every time we docked in San Juan and I had the day off! The offical languages are Spanish and English with Spanish being the primary language. The people in Old San Juan are very used to tourists with all the cruise ships, and this was one port I always felt safe walking around in. Some of my favourite restaurants were: Amanda's Cafe - across from El Morro the best sangria in the Caribbean and you can watch the sun set on the fort. Nothing better than that! Butterfly People Cafe - great menu. Cafe Berlin - perfect place to grab a snack and drink when you've been in the sun all day. I want to go back there are so many places I have not seen or photographed! I would suggest if you want to experience everything Puerto Rico has to offer spend at least a week there. You won't regret it!

When walking back towards the water and dusk is falling you can hear live music in the summer, down at the waterfront a band is playing a bomba and people are dancing in the open air square. When ever I hear the music of Buena Vista Social Club (They are from Cuba not San Juan but I like them better then Ricky Martin who is from San Juan!!) I think of San Juan. I know I will go back one day, I have a few more places I haven't seen to check off first, but this I always felt as my home away from home.

Travel Tuesdays

Starting next week, Jen and I are going to talk about one place a week that we've traveled to. We used to travel for a living with a cruise line as photographers so we've travelled to many ports of call, sometimes we even made it "inland!"

Hopefully we can give you some insight to some great places we've been to and ignite the travel bug in you. Great spots for honeymoons, packing tips and areas in the world we should all see. The world is becoming a smaller and smaller place with technology and we have to get out of our routine of going to the same vacation spots. Take a chance and travel to Ketchikan, Alaska or Shanghai, China. We'll post photos and tell you some stories every Tuesday so stay tuned!

My first post will be about San Juan, Puerto Rico. One of my favourite places I've travelled to! Enjoy the sneak peak photo!

Honeymoon Ideas

Well summer is finally here and our wedding season is in full swing. I know some couples wait to go on their honeymoon and I wanted to offer a few suggestions to make the few days after your wedding feel special if you don't head out of town right away. Call it your "honeymoon at home", until you can get away to that white sand beach in Mexico or the magical streets of Paris. Enjoy!

Hide all of your paperwork and lock your office door. Disconnect your cable and Internet. Don't let yourself get into your normal routine of watching prime time TV or glossing over your utility bills.

Be a tourist. Contact Tourism Vancouver (www.tourismvancouver.com) request the information they would send to tourists, you may be surprised what you haven't seen here in our backyard!

Rearrange your furniture. Move things around in your bedroom, living room and other high traffic rooms. If you have a guest room stay in there for a week! After you return from your wedding treat your house like a resort hotel. Pick up fresh new towels and matching bathrobes! Have flowers everywhere, hire a maid to clean everyday. Even put travel size shampoo and toiletries in your bathroom. Go out for dinner or order "Room Service" and have your dinner delivered.

Relax at a spa together. Spend quality time with each other. A great spa in Vancouver, is A Touch Above (www.atouchabove.ca) This is one of my faves because it is a fantastic spa that pays attention to every detail.

Just remember, after planning your wedding you need some time to relax and spend some quality alone time with each other. Have a fantastic summer and enjoy your honeymoons here in Vancouver or around the world!

From a gorgeous bride and groom, family traditions, a fantastic bridal party, a super stretch limo, tram rides up to Grouse Mountain and a helicopter entrance for the bride and her dad, this wedding was one we won't soon forget! Invitation Season is Here!

The invitation season is fast upon us and I wanted to give everyone my top 10 tips. Here they are....

1: When calculating the number of invitations you'll need, it's a good idea to order at least 10% more than your initial count. There is a very good chance you'll have a few stragglers or need to hit up that B-list to fill your guest list.

2: If possible, send out your invitations around 2-3 months before your wedding and request replies 1 month before. This will give your guests plenty of time to finalize accommodations and travel as well as allow you to organize your reception.

3: As much as it is good etiquette to hand write your invitation envelopes, it is a very tedious task in regards to large weddings. In such cases, consider having the addresses printed for you. In addition to your guests addresses being more readable and your writing hand being less cramped, specific aspects of your invitation's design can be used to create an invitation package that stands out before its even opened!

4: Invitation wording is the most important part of your invitation. In fact, it IS the invitation. When creating the wording for your invitation, here are a few suggestions:

a. The wording should fit the occasion. If you are having a traditional wedding use traditionalwording. If you are having a contemporary wedding keep it contemporary.

b. When doing either invitation, consider who is involved with the wedding. If parents on either sideof the wedding are paying for it or at least helping, it is a always a good idea to include them in the invitation unless otherwise instructed.

c. Wedding are a very personal event. Unless you've decided to go strictly traditional make sure your invitations have as much character as you do. Make your guests know they are important enough that you're not just sending them an invitation, you want them to come.

5: Don't forget the stamp! When stuffing your invitations be sure to add postage to your RSVP envelope. Forgetting to do so would be in very poor taste.

6: Avoid having all your invitations returned to you stamped with "Insufficient Postage" ruining all your envelopes! Take invitations to the post office and be sure you get sufficient postage.

7: If you don't receive a reply from some guests by your reply date, don't hesitate to call them. It's important that you know how many are attending so you can budget accordingly.

8: If you want to include children as guests, write out their individual names on the addressed envelopes, or put "and family." For example:

Mr. and Mrs. Bob Simpson, Cathy and John

Mr. and Mrs. Bob Simpson and Family

If the children are older teens (say, 16 or older), you might want to send them an individual invitation, just like you would an adult.

If you don't want to include children at the ceremony, don't add their names or "and family" on the outside of the envelope. Although this violates the stricter laws of etiquette, you might even add something like, "Sorry, but children are not invited", "adults only" or a similar phrase to clarify. If you want to have children at the reception but not the ceremony, you could note this on the response card ... or on the invitation itself at the bottom.

9: If your wedding is going to actually be held on a beach or other outdoor area, be sure that you let your guests know this, so they can dress appropriately.

10: Double and even triple-check everything before it gets printed. Borrow another pair of eyes. This includes invitations, response cards, envelopes, wedding programs, and so on, whether you're doing them yourself or having them professionally printed. Search ruthlessly for spelling errors.

My Favourite Store in the WORLD

I have to admit I have a bit of an addiction... The store is called Cadeaux Gifts & Home Embellishments. I love this store. Not only is the merchandise beautiful and unique the staff have taken the time to merchandize their store in an a way that as you walk around the store you feel like you are walking through different rooms. The lighting is soft and the customer service is amazing.

The items for sale are perfect for a newly married couple, a bridesmaid or a groomsman. They also have a kids section in the back for that perfect flower girl and ring bearer! Not to mention holidays and birthdays. Or just to say thank you to someone for being a friend there is always a jewel to find here.

I may tend to stop in for Rogers Chocolate, but they always have new stock coming in (it always seems like stock day!!) and I without a doubt find something to buy for myself or for some else!
